Dow Futures Opening Update as on 15 June 2017

U.S. stock futures are lower in pre-market trading for Thursday, June 15.The Dow Futures are trading at 21,242.50  with a loss of -0.40% percent or -85.00 point . The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,420.00 with a loss of  -0.63% percent or -15.25 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,674.25  with a loss of  -1.02% percent or -58.50 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 19,831.82 with a loss of –0.26% percent or –51.70 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 25,565.34 with a loss of –1.20% percent or –310.56 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,132.49 for up with  +0.06% percent or +1.81 point. India’s S&P BSE Sensex are trading at 31,075.73 with a loss of  –0.26% percent or –80.18 point. In Europe, the FTSE 100 are trading at 7,385.33  with a loss of –1.19% percent or –89.07 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,692.03  with  a loss of –0.89% percent or –113.92 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,192.12  with a loss of  –0.98% percent or –51.17 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 384.83 with a loss of -0.71% percent or -2.75 point.

Thursday’s Factors and Events

Amid busy economic activities, the market is waiting for the import and export index, manufacturing survey data as well as jobless claims report. The geopolitical issues and its impact on U.S. dollar is worrying the market. Initial trading at the U.S. Futures Index suggest that Wall Street may open lower. Asian stocks closed mixed, while European shares are broadly in the red.

As of 6.15 am ET, the Dow futures were slipping 94 points, the S&P 500 futures were shedding 16.75 points and the Nasdaq 100 futures were slipping 69.75 points.

U.S. stocks closed mixed on Wednesday. The Dow rose 46.09 points or 0.2 percent to 21,374.56, while the Nasdaq fell 25.48 points or 0.4 percent to 6,194.89 and the S&P 500 edged down 2.43 points or 0.1 percent to 2,437.92.

Wednesday’s Activity

U.S. market indexes were mixed on Wednesday. For the day  the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 21,374.56 for up with +0.22% percent or +46.09 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,437.92  with a loss of –0.10% percent or –2.43 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,194.89 with a loss of –0.41% percent or –25.48 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,417.57  with a loss of -0.59% percent or -8.41 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 861.15  with a loss of  –0.57% percent or –4.92 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,761.66 with a loss of –0.43% percent or –7.68 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,074.00  with a loss of –0.06% percent or –0.64 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,444.74  with a loss of -0.16% percent or -2.26 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,351.36  with  a loss of -0.12% percent or -1.63 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 21,374.56 for up with +0.22% percent or +46.09 point.
