Dow Futures Opening Update as on 15 January 2018

U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Monday, January 15.The Dow Futures are trading at 25,927.00 for up with +0.49% percent or +126.00 point. The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,794.75 for up with +0.22% percent or +6.00 point.The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,784.25 for up with +0.13% percent or +118.00 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,  Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 23,714.88 for up with +0.26% percent or +61.06 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 31,378.85    with a loss of  -0.12% percent or  -36.62 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,410.49  with a loss of  -0.54% percent or -18.45 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 34,884.32  forup with +0.84% percent or +291.44 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,772.00 with  a loss of  -0.09% percent or -6.64 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 13,210.06  with  a loss of -0.26% percent or  -34.97 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,507.49  with a loss of -0.17% percent or -9.56 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 397.96  with a loss of -0.13% percent or  -0.55 point.

Monday’s Factors and Events

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 228.46 points to close at 25,803.19, an all-time high. J.P. Morgan Chase was among the best-performing stocks in the index, rising 1.7 percent.

The S&P 500 also reached a record high, climbing 0.7 percent to 2,786.24 with energy and consumer discretionary as the best-performing sectors. Energy stocks got a boost from rising oil prices.

 The index is also enjoying its best 10-day start to a year since 2003. In that time period, the S&P 500 is up 4.2 percent. It gained 5.9 percent during the first 10 days of 2003.
