Stocks were also undercut by a slide in consumer discretionary stocks led by a -1.7% drop in after Citigroup cut its price target on the stock, citing deep discounting by the retailer to compete during the holiday season. Energy producer stocks received a boost from the +1.82% gain in crude oil prices.
