Dow Futures Opening Update as on 24 July 2017

U.S. stock futures are lower in pre-market trading for Monday, July 24. The Dow Futures are trading at 21,507.00 with a loss of -0.05% percent or -11.00 point. The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,467.25 with a loss of -0.09% percent or -2.25 point.The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,912.50 with a loss of -0.11% percent or -5.50 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 19,975.67 with a loss of –0.62% percent or –124.08 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 26,819.96 for up with  +0.43% percent or  +113.87 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,256.31 for up with  +0.57% percent or  +18.33 point. India’s S&P BSE Sensex are trading at 32,218.55 for up with +0.59% percent or +189.66 point at 12:15 PM. In Europe, the FTSE 100 are trading at 7,382.48 with a loss of  –0.95% percent or –70.43 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,190.89 with a loss of –0.40% percent or –49.17 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,118.97 for up with  +0.03% percent or +1.31 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 378.81 with a loss of -0.35% percent or -1.34 point.

Monday’s Factors and Events

U.S. stock index futures were slightly lower on Monday as the earnings season gathered pace, while investors awaited a two-day Federal Reserve meeting that starts on Tuesday.

* Tech giant Alphabet GOOGL.O will report results after market close. Amazon AMZN.O and Facebook FB.O are due to report results later this week.

* The S&P 500 technology sector .SPLRCT slipped on Friday after posting two consecutive record closing highs. The Nasdaq Composite was on track to cap a 10-day streak of gains, its best since February 2015, after closing at a record high on Thursday.

For the day The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 21,580.07 with a loss of –0.15% percent or –31.71 point.The S&P 500 closed at 2,472.54 with a loss of – 0.04% percent or –0.91 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,387.75 with a loss of –0.04% percent or –2.25 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,435.84 with a loss of -0.45% percent or -6.52 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 868.25  with a loss of –0.46% percent or –4.02 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,773.92 with a loss of –0.26% percent or – 4.69 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,087.74 with  a loss of-0.14% percent or –1.52 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,464.69 with a loss of –0.07% percent or –1.09 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,370.12 with a loss of-0.04% percent or –0.59 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 21,580.07 with a loss of –0.15% percent or –31.71point.
