Dow Futures Opening Update as on 24 October 2017

U.S. stock futures are mixed in pre-market trading for Tuesday, October 24. The Dow Futures are trading at 23,367.00 for up  with +0.60% percent or +139.00 point.The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,567.25 for up with +0.15% percent or +3.75 point.The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,072.63 for up with +0.12% percent or +7.37 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,  Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 21,805.17 for up with +0.50% percent or +108.52 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 28,171.46  with a loss of –0.47% percent or  –134.42 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,388.25 for up with +0.22% percent or  +7.55 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 32,575.34 for up with +0.21% percent or +68.62 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,532.00 for up with +0.10% percent or +7.55 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 13,040.80   for up with +0.29% percent or  +37.66 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,408.28 for up with +0.40% percent or +21.47 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 390.53  with a loss of -0.05% percent or  -0.20 point.

Tuesday’s Factors and Events

U.S. stock index futures point to a higher open on Tuesday as earnings season kicked up a notch.

Dow Jones industrial average futures rose 125 points, boosted by strong quarterly results from 3M and Caterpillar.

Caterpillar reported earnings per share of $1.95 on revenue of $11.413 billion. Analysts polled by Reuters expected a profit of $1.27 per share on sales of $10.649 billion. Caterpillar shares rose 6.9 percent.

Monday’s Activity

U.S. market were  mixed on Monday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 23,273.96 for up with  +0.23% percent or  +54.67 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,564.98  with a loss of –0.40% percent or  –10.23 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,586.83   with a loss of –0.64% percent or  –42.23 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,497.49  with a loss of -0.78% percent or -11.75 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 908.77  with a loss of –0.55% percent or –4.98 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,824.91  with a loss of –0.51% percent or  –9.38 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,130.15 with a loss of –0.45% percent or  –5.11  point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,520.39 with a loss of  –0.45% percent or  –6.81 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,421.64  with a loss of –0.42% percent or –5.97 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 23,273.96  with  a loss of –0.23% percent or –54.67 point.
