Dow Futures Opening Update as on 12 December 2017

U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Tuesday, December 12. The Dow Futures are trading at 24,440.00 for up with +0.09% percent or +25.00 point.The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,665.25 for up with +0.03% percent or +0.75 point.The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,417.38 for up with +0.02% percent or +1.38 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 22,866.17 with a loss of –0.32% percent or  –72.56 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 28,795.66  with a loss of  –0.58% percent or  –170.89 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,280.81 with a loss of –1.25% percent or  –41.38 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 33,291.65 with a loss of –0.49% percent or  –164.14 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,472.77 for up with +0.26% percent or +19.07 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 13,126.41 for up with +0.02% percent or  +2.50 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,396.03 for up with +0.18% percent or  +9.53 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 389.62 for up with +389.62 percent or +0.59 point.

Tuesday’s Factors and Events

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a slightly higher open on Tuesday, ahead of several economic data releases and the start of a two-day policy meeting by the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC).

In the previous session, U.S. equities closed in the black, bouncing back from earlier weakness seen when news emerged that a terror incident had happened near New York City’s Times Square. A low tech device exploded at New York’s Port Authority, which injured four people, including the suspect who was taken into custody.

Monday’s Activity

U.S. market were higher on Monday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 24,386.03 for up with +0.23% percent or +56.87 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,659.99 for up with +0.32% percent or +8.49 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,875.08 for up with +0.51% percent or +35.00 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,519.84  with a loss of -0.12% percent or -1.88 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 925.32 with a loss of –0.30% percent or –2.79 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,888.20  with a loss of –0.14% percent or –0.14% point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,176.45 for up with +0.48% percent or +5.63 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,573.54 for up with +0.27% percent or +4.18 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,473.69 for up with +0.30% percent or +4.38 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 24,386.03 for up with +0.23% percent or +56.87 point.
