Dow Futures Opening Update as on 19 December 2017

U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Tuesday, December 19. The Dow Futures are trading at 24,859.50 for up with +0.15% percent or +36.50 point.The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,696.88 for up with +0.09% percent or +2.38 point.The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,539.76 for up with +0.07% percent or +6.13 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 22,868.00  with a loss of –0.15% percent or –33.77 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 29,249.11 for up with +0.68% percent or  +198.70 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,296.54 for up with +0.88% percent or +28.62 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 33,689.58 for up with +0.27% percent or  +92.30 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,551.80 for up with +0.20% percent or +14.74 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 13,293.25  with  a loss of –0.14% percent or –19.05 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,410.76  with a loss of –0.18% percent or –9.82 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 392.78 for up with +0.04% percent or +0.04% point.

Tuesday’s Factors and Events

U.S. stock index futures are set for a positive open Tuesday, as investors get ready for a vote on a bill that would slash taxes for corporations.

Futures rose on Tuesday on the back of a strong performance seen during the previous session. On Monday, stocks closed at all-time highs with the Nasdaq composite briefly hitting 7,000 for the first time during the session.

Meantime, the Dow Jones industrial average jumped 140 points by the close, marking its 70th record finish of 2017. Consequently, the positive sentiment seen Stateside provided a slight boost for markets overseas.

Monday’s Activity

U.S. market were higher on Monday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 24,792.20 for up with +0.57% percent or +140.46 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,690.16 for up with +0.54% percent or +14.35 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,994.76 for up with +0.84%percent or +58.18 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,548.92 for up with +1.21% percent or +18.50 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 945.12 for up with +1.34% percent or +12.49 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,905.30 for up with +0.99% percent or +18.63 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,192.22 for up with +0.47% percent or +5.54 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,591.96 for up with +0.62% percent or +9.88 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,490.06 for up with +0.58% percent or +8.55 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 24,792.20 for up with +0.57% percent or +140.46 point.
