Dow Futures Opening Update as on 03 January 2018

U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Wednesday, January 03.The Dow Futures are trading at 24,822.00 for up with +0.22% percent or +54.00 point.The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,698.00 for up with +0.19% percent or +5.00 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,527.75 for up  with +0.20% percent or +13.50 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 22,764.94 with a loss of -0.08% percent or  -19.04 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 30,571.26  for up  with +0.18% percent or  +55.95 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,369.11 for up with +0.62% percent or +20.78 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 33,886.28 for up with +0.22% percent or +74.02 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,647.29 with a loss of -0.01% percent or -0.81 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,911.49 for up  with +0.31% percent or  +40.10 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,306.89 for up with +0.35% percent or +18.29 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 389.56 for up with +0.30%  percent or  +1.17 point.

Wednesday’s Factors and Events

The S&P 500 gained 0.8 percent to close at 2,695.79, notching intraday and closing records, with consumer discretionary, energy materials and tech all rising more than 1 percent.

The Nasdaq composite advanced 1.5 percent to 7,006.90, also hitting record highs. The index also closed above 7,000 for the first time.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 104.79 points to finish at 24,824.01, with Disney shares climbing 4 percent.

“This is basically an extension of what we saw in 2017,” said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at First Standard Financial. “With economic data being strong, investors are betting that economic growth will translate into strong earnings growth.”

U.S. market were higher on Tuesday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 24,824.01 for up with +0.42% percent or  +104.79 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,695.81 for up with +0.83% percent or  +22.20 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 7,006.90 for up with +1.50% percent or  +103.51 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,550.01  for up with +0.94% percent or +14.50 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 942.97  for up with +0.72%  percent or +6.71  point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,917.36 for up with +0.88% percent or +16.79 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,193.55 for up with +0.88% percent or  +10.40 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,595.87  for up with  +0.83% percent or +13.10 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,493.93  for up with +0.82% percent or  +12.12 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 24,824.01  for up with +0.42% percent or +104.79 point.
