Dow Futures Opening Update as on 22 February 2018

U.S. stock futures are mixed in pre-market trading for Thursday, February 22. The Dow Futures are trading at 24,679.00  with a loss of  -0.42% percent or -103.00 point.  The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,692.50  with a loss of -0.23% percent or -6.25 point.The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,725.75  with a loss of -0.51% percent or -34.75 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 21,736.44  with a loss of -1.07% percent or  -234.37 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 30,965.68 with a loss of -1.48% percent or -466.21 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,268.56 for up with +2.17% percent or +69.40 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 33,832.99 with a loss of -0.04% percent or -11.87  point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,201.70  with a loss of  -1.10% percent or  -79.87 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,339.94  with a loss of  -1.05% percent or  -130.55 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,266.39 with a loss of -0.67% percent or -35.78 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 377.56  with a loss of -0.93% percent or -3.52 point.

Thursday’s Factors and Events

Stocks closed lower on Thursday, erasing sharp gains, after interest rates reached fresh multiyear highs following the release of the latest Federal Reserve minutes.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed 166.97 points lower at 24,797.78 after rising 303.24 points earlier in the session. The S&P 500fell 0.6 percent to 2,701.33, with real estate sliding nearly 2 percent. The Nasdaq composite closed 0.2 percent lower at 7,218.23. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq had risen more than 1 percent each.

“The made it clear that you’re going to see more rate hikes,” said Quincy Krosby, chief market strategist at Prudential Financial. “The question for the market now is how many.”

Wednesday’s Activity

U.S. market were lower on Wednesday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 24,797.78 with a loss of -0.67% percent or -166.97 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,701.33 with a loss of -0.55% percent or  -14.93 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 7,218.23 with a loss of -0.22% percent or -16.08 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,531.84  for up with  +0.12% percent or +1.84 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 934.93 for up with +0.21% percent or  +1.99 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,884.04 with a loss of -0.22% percent or – 4.23 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at  1,194.38 with a loss of -0.53% percent or -6.33 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,596.33 with a loss of -0.48% percent or  -7.66 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,495.84  with a loss of -0.53% percent or -7.90 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 24,797.78  with a loss of -0.67% percent or  -166.97 point.
