Dow Futures Opening Update as on 01 March 2018

U.S. stock futures are Mixed in pre-market trading for Thursday, March 01. The Dow Futures are trading at 25,030.00 with a loss of -0.03% percent or -8.00 point. The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,715.25 for up with +0.03%  percent or +0.25 point.The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,878.00  for up with +0.19% percent or +13.00 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 21,724.47  with a loss of -1.56% percent or  -343.77 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 30,908.69  for up with +0.21% percent or  +63.97 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,273.76 for up  with  +0.44% percent or +14.35 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 34,146.21 with a loss of -0.11% percent or  -37.83  point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,195.56  with a loss of -0.50% percent or  -36.35 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,327.94  with a loss of -0.87% percent or  -107.91 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,294.51  with a loss of -0.49% percent or -25.98 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 377.73  with a loss of -0.50% percent or -1.89 point.

Thursday’s Factors and Events

U.S. stocks fell sharply in choppy trade Thursday, giving up earlier gains, as Wall Street wrapped up a volatile month for the major averages.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed 380.83 points lower at 25,029.20, with Caterpillar as the worst-performing stock in the index.

More than half of the day’s losses came in the final hour of trading with the Dow losing more than 240 points in the final 60 minutes.

The S&P 500 pulled back 0.9 percent to close at 2,713.83, with energy as the worst-performing sector. The Nasdaq composite ended 0.8 percent lower at 7,273.01.

Jeff Kilburg, CEO of KKM Financial said the S&P 500 dipped below its 50-day moving average late in the session. “That forces some technical selling pressure and flushes out some weak longs,” he said.

Wednesday’s Activity

U.S. market were lower on Wednesday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 25,029.20  with  a loss of -1.50% percent or -380.83 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,713.83  with a loss of -1.11% percent or -30.45 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 7,273.01  with a loss of -0.78% percent or -57.35 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,512.45  with a loss of -1.56% percent or -24.03 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 921.34   with a loss of -1.76% percent or -16.49 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,864.61 with  a loss of -1.20% percent or -22.60 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,201.87  with a loss of -1.19% percent or -14.44 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,600.15  with a loss of -1.11% percent or – 17.94 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,501.23  with a loss of -1.07% percent or -16.28 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 25,029.20   with  a loss of -1.50% percent or  -380.83 point.
