Dow Futures Opening Update as on 15 May 2018

U.S. stock futures lower in pre-market trading for Tuesday, May 15. The Dow Futures is trading at 24,849.00  with a loss of -0.15% percent or -37.00 point.The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,727.00 with a loss of -0.15% percent or -4.00 point. The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 6,961.50 with  a loss of -0.17% percent or -12.00 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,818.02 with a loss of -0.21% percent or -47.84 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 31,209.08 with a loss of -1.05% percent or -332.00 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 3,188.69 up with +0.46% percent or +14.65 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 35,775.88 up  with +0.62% percent or  +219.17  point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 is trading at 7,727.18 up with +0.21% percent or +16.20 point. Germany’s DAX is trading at 12,963.69 with  a loss of -0.11% percent or -14.02 point. France’s CAC 40 is trading at 5,545.48 up with +0.087% percent or +4.80 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 is trading at 392.27 up with +0.02% percent or +0.07 point.

Tuesday’s Factors and Events

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a lower open on Tuesday morning, amid concerns of increased violence on the Israeli-Gaza border.

At around 4:15 a.m. ET, Dow futures fell 59 points, indicating a lower implied open of 49 points. The Nasdaq and the S&P 500 futures also indicated a lower start to the session for their respective markets.

The moves in pre-market trade followed an escalation in violence Monday at the Israeli-Gaza border on the day the U.S. opened its embassy in Jerusalem, after President Donald Trump moved it from Tel Aviv. Palestinians interpreted the move as support for Israeli control of the whole city. They claim that East Jerusalem is the capital of a future Palestinian state. Prince Turki Al-Faisal of Saudi Arabia told CNBC that the move will increase instability in the Middle East.

U.S. market were higher on Monday.For the day the Dow is trading at 24,899.41 up with +0.27% percent or +68.24 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,730.13 up with +0.088% percent or +2.41 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,411.32 up with +0.11% percent or +8.43 point.
