Dow Futures Opening Update as on 09 August 2018

U.S. stock futures mixed in pre-market trading for Thursday, August 09.The Dow Futures is trading at 25,559.00 up with +0.09% percent or +23.00 point. The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,858.50 up with +0.11% percent or +3.25 point.The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 7,480.75 up with +0.12% percent or +9.25 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,598.39 with a loss of -0.20% percent or -45.92 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 28,600.03 up with +0.85% percent or  +240.89 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,794.38 up with +1.83% percent or +50.31  point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 38,023.97 up with +0.36% percent or +136.41 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 is trading at 7,721.26  with a loss of -0.71% percent or -55.39 point. Germany’s DAX is trading at 12,659.48 up with +0.21% percent or +25.94 point. France’s CAC 40 is trading at 5,490.51   with a loss of -0.21% percent or -11.39 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 is trading at 389.15  with a loss of -0.14% percent or -0.54 point.

Thursday’s Factors and Events

Markets around the world are pointing in different directions Thursday, as investors monitor the latest developments in the trade spat between the U.S. and China.

On Wednesday, U.S. Treasury yields came under pressure after Beijing announced it would counter the most recent round of U.S. tariffs with its own. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced a 25 percent charge on $16 billion worth of U.S. goods.

In total, 333 goods have been picked out by China, including vehicles, various types of fuels, recyclables and fiber optical cables. It followed an announcement by the U.S. Trade Representative’s office that the States would begin gathering levies on an additional $16 billion in Chinese goods from later this month.

Wednesday’s Activity

For the day the Dow is trading at 25,583.75 with a loss of -0.18% percent or -45.16 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,857.70 with  a loss of -0.026% percent or -0.75 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,888.33 up with +0.06% percent or +4.66 point.
