In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at at 23,494.34 with a loss of –percent or  –22.25 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 24,918.78 up with +percent or +132.65 point. China’s Shanghai  Composite is trading at 3,251.12 with a loss of – percent or –26.88 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 40,279.40 with a loss of –percent or –406.10 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 closed at 5,860.28 up with + percent or +74.63 point. Dozens of candidate vaccines are in clinical evaluation, according to the World Health Organization, with some already conducting late-stage tests before seeking formal approval.

The vaccine being developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca is thought to be one of the frontrunners to secure regulatory approval.

AstraZeneca CEO Pascal Soirot has previously said the drugmaker’s vaccine would likely provide protection against contracting the coronavirus for about a year.
