Dow Futures Opening Update as on 17 July 2017

U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Monday, July 17. The Dow Futures are trading at 21,506.50 for up with  +0.06% percent or +12.50 point. The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,457.75 for up with  +0.07% percent or +1.75 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,852.62 for up with +0.16% percent or +9.37 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,  Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 20,118.86 for up with +0.09% percent or +19.05 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 26,470.58 for up with +0.31% percent or +81.35 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,176.46 with a loss of –1.43% percent or –45.95 point. India’s S&P BSE Sensex are trading at 32,074.78 for up with  +0.17% percent or +54.03 point at 12:15 PM. In Europe, the FTSE 100 are trading at 7,417.35 for up with  +0.53% percent or +38.96 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,616.33  with  a loss of –0.12% percent or –15.39 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,241.71 for up with +0.12% percent or +6.40 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 3387.37 for up with +0.15% percent or +0.18 point.

Monday’s Factors and Events

U.S. government debt prices were slightly higher on Monday, as investors turned their attention to upcoming data releases and auctions.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note sat slightly off at around 2.312 percent at 7:14 a.m. ET, while the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was down at 2.903 percent. Bond yields move inversely to prices.

Investors will also be looking out for the Empire State Manufacturing survey, slated to come out at 8.30 a.m. ET.

the Dow completed its third straight all-time finish with an increase of 0.39% to 21637.7. The NASDAQ is just a step behind its own record after a 0.61% advance to 6312.5. Earnings season kicked off with a bunch of banks reporting before the bell, such as JP Morgan, Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) and Citigroup (NYSE:C), among others. The news was fine, but the financials, nonetheless, had a rough session.

U.S. market indexes were higher on Friday.For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 21,637.74 for up with +0.39% percent or +84.65 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,459.27 for up with +0.47% percent or +11.44point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,312.47 for up with +0.61% percent or +38.03 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,428.82 for up with +0.22% percent or +3.16 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 862.70 for up with +0.27% percent or +2.35 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,765.32 for up with +0.34% percent or +5.94 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,083.13 for up with +0.44% percent or +4.72 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,456.73 for up with +0.44% percent or +6.37 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,362.61 for up with +0.46% percent or +6.20 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 21,637.74 for up with +0.39% percent or +84.65 point.
