Thursday’s Factors and Events

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a flat open on Thursday as traders awaited the release of key economic data.

Dow Jones industrial average futures were flat while S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures declined 1.25 points and 8.75 points, respectively.

Investors will have two pieces of economic data to sift through on Thursday, with the weekly report on initial jobless claims and the monthly report on inflation both due out in the morning.

The latest rally got another boost on Tuesday when Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin discussed the Trump administration’s goal of achieving tax reform, and possibly making it effective this year. Mnuchin was interviewed at the Delivering Alpha conference, a CNBC and Institutional Investor production.
