Dow Futures Opening Update as on 10 December 2018

U.S. stock futures lower  in pre-market trading for , December 10.The Dow Futures is trading at 24,364.00  with a loss of -0.28% percent or -68.00 point.  The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,628.25 with a loss of -0.29% percent or -7.75 point.The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 6,605.25  with a loss of  -0.28% percent or  -0.28% point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 21,219.50 with a loss of -2.12% percent or -459.18 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 25,765.86  with a loss of -1.14% percent or -297.90 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,584.58  with a loss of -0.82% percent or  -21.31 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at  35,127.80  with a loss of -1.53% percent or ?546.42 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 is trading at 6,758.06  with a loss of  -0.30% percent or -20.05  point. Germany’s DAX is trading at 10,731.31  with a loss of -0.53% percent or -56.78 point. France’s CAC 40 is trading at 4,792.51 with a loss of -0.43% percent or -20.61 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 is trading at 342.93 with a loss of -0.72% percent or -2.53 point.

Monday’s Factors and Events

The Wall Street Journal reported the central bank is considering whether to signal a wait-and-see approach to rate hikes at its upcoming meeting this month. The report said Fed officials do not know what their next move on rates will be after December. As a result, The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 79.40 points lower at 24,947.67 after plunging nearly 800 points earlier in the day.

On the data front, investors will be keeping a close watch on nonfarm payrolls, a key metric for Fed policy, due at 8.30 ET. At the same time, there will also be unemployment numbers.

For the day the Dow is trading at 24,388.95 with a loss of -2.24% percent or -558.72 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,633.08 with a loss of – 2.33% percent or -62.87 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 6,969.25   with a loss of -3.05% percent or -219.01 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,448.09 with a loss of -1.98% percent or ?29.32 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 905.26 with a loss of -1.86% percent or -17.17 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,780.94  with a loss of – 2.01% percent or -36.54 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,167.57  with a loss of -2.39% percent or -28.63 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,550.49 with a loss of -2.31% percent or -36.69 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,455.80 with a loss of -2.34% percent or -34.83 point;
